Mansell Upham remarks on p.40 of http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/RemarkableWriting/UL20ExtremestEnd.pdf:

"Cape-born halfslag Catharina Hillebrants: aka Catharina Wijkers: and likely daughter of Elisabeth (Lijsbeth) aka Sabba van Angola."

Does anybody have any corroboration of her birth as a halfslag in the Cape? Or proof of parentage, mother or father?

There is no proof that Catharina was born in the Cape. Perhaps in the Nederlands
Hillebrant is a Prussian (German) surname.

I'm guessing that Upham has found no proof of her arrival at the Cape with her parents, or proof of her birth outside of the Cape; and perhaps has assumed -- or can show -- that she is one of the many Catharinas in the Slave Lodge records.

Let me know if you need me to change anything.

Just looking for any corroborative sources at this point, either way.

Yes, I agree that would be very good to have.
