I'm looking for information on John Hogue who came to America as an indentured servant somewhere around 1760-1774. He had daughter named Elizabeth who he supposedly sold to a Cherokee chief for a bag of gold to pay off his indenture. She would have been about 15 or 16 at the time (around 1792-93). Sounds far-fetched but the story has been in the family for generations so maybe there is some truth to it. Anyone heard rumors to that effect?

Melissa: What areas do you believe John Hogue settled in?

I don't know. If the story is true, the ancestor Elizabeth married would have been in the general area of what is now Rome, Georgia, or possibly over the border in Tennessee.

Well, that rules out my John Hogue. Thank you.
