There appears to have been a possible incorrect merge that has resulted in the wives of Richard Leach (Martha and Rebecca) having similar dates, as well as having children with Richard during an overlapping time period. The relevant profiles are:
Richard Leach, Jr.
Martha Leach
Amity (Rebecca) Leach
Are there good explanations for this? Or is it a muddle?

Who knows? Somebody has been screwing around with the whole line. They have Lawrence Leach buried in a crypt in the Old North Church which was not even in existence at the time of his death. I give up.

It looks very likely that Martha is married to a different Richard Leach - there are several with similar dates.

I believe I’ve sorted & separated the several Richard Leaches, please check.

Richard Leach

Richard Leach, Jr.

Brilliant! Thanks Erica. That looks right! The only glitch that I see is Nathanial Leach. It gives a duplication on his parents, and suggests that I merge the two Richard Leaches (which I'm not going to do)! The Nathanial here, born 1741, belongs with the 'other' Richard Leach (son of Samuel Flint Leach), not with Richard Leach Jr - though he does have a son Nathanial born a bit later 20 May 1744.
So Capt. Nathaniel Leach should connect to Richard Leach

Thanks Erica, I'm slowly going to work through these Leaches and check against as many records as I can find - and make notes of what I can find on the profiles...so there's going to be some more fixes coming, though it may take a while! I have a suspicion that this entire descent line may be attached to the wrong son of Lawrence Leach.

Notes & sourcss make all the difference to keep them sorted. I attached the Marblehead deaths page to the privateer, there are other Leaches listed.

Hi Erica, can you add the eldest child here - Margaret, born 17 February 1739 in Ashford Connecticut. Not sure if she was here before!

Thanks, sorry I missed it before. Added a citation.

Thank you :-)
