Hi,

My grandfather, Van Buren Beck, is potentially from Ravensford or Buncombe county in NC and I've conducted a little research about him. He lived in Portland, Or in 1941-46 with my grandmother, Evelyn Beck (Evelina Galligani) and he had a family her: twin girls and 1 younger girl. He disappeared and we don't know what happened and my grandmother never told us much. We have a little urgency as my mom's twin has cancer and not doing that great. I know it would be a gift for her to know what happened to her biological father and find out if he died or had another family, etc.
I have a copy of his marriage license and marriage certificate when he eloped with my grandmother in Nov 1941. His parents are noted as: Andrew J Beck, Asheville, NC and Mother is Sally Loftis, NC. He was also in the military for a year during WWII and stationed in Vancouver, Wa and have his enlistment card which notes he only had 2 years of high school. Roxie Beck (his potential mother), died in 1932 when he would have been 16 and matches the education timing. I found some census documents from 1920 and 1930 from Asheville, NC that seems to match him. I am trying agin to obtain military information and believe his army serial number is: 19015191. He registered in Mecklenburg County, NC and was stationed in Vancouver Barracks Washington. The family tree I found has his death October 11, 1991

I have a 23 and me dna test as well as my mother so if you believe this is your relative as well and are comfortable confirming DNA, I would greatly appreciate it.

Best,
Kathleen
