Dorcas' parents were Captain John Lightfoot & a Cherokee Woman

Martha Dorsey Lightfoot Lott is assumed to be 13th unlisted child of Faires mom and Capt John Lightfoot until anyone finds a paper.

@Beverly Bentley , Lightfoot Historian, has a paper trail to the deeds to the property her family inherited in the will in the late 1800s. The land coordinates in will of her 3 x great grandfather match the land coordinates of the Lightfoots in Eutaw, AL. Lightfoot, Philip ( Lightfoot Landing at 26, 21N, 2E & 36, 21N, 2E on Black Warrior River). This the Eutaw lands of the Capt/Councilman John Lightfoot.

Re: Dorcas' parents were Captain John Lightfoot & a Cherokee Woman

This is not an established fact. What is thought is that Dorcas’ mother also had two children surnamed Lightfoot.

Dorcas and her sister Nancy / Ga ho ga were noted as “full blood,” which makes it unlikely they had a White father.

The SNP matches are coming in for descendants of Nancy Foster to my kit, at levels that have my Lightfoot matching at levels that overlapping matches in a trend
that are being reported on the Lightfoot project as they come in.

Yes, your project is doing great work, I hope it will clarify this line.

Capt /Councilman John Lightfoot is your 7th cousin 8 times removed.

Team of 60 involved now. . . . .

thought might like this one i have research and still say that john lightfoot was NOT married to Mary Clack for that John Lightfoot died of food posining and died in 1751, the indian woman gahoga married to a john lightfoot or Lightfoote, had two sons william and george, William died at the age of 60 this is what i found i will share it with you and you can look up the numbers from the file and get the page with the article. When William Lightfoot was born in 1769 in North Carolina, his father, John, was 44 and his mother, Gehoga, was 39. He did marry but no idea what her name was but had two children one born in 1820 other born about 1822. This information comes from research and family contributions of clan Ani Kawi. This letter was for his brother George, notes from William Lightfoot Ref. RG75, E232, this letter states: Soilation Decisions, 1838 pg 60-61. Improvement issued to James Foster, Nephew of George Lightfoot and Georges brother William Lightfoot. William has a widow and some destitute orphand children on Coowattie (Coosawatee River) ten or eight miles above New Echota "The widow of Wiliams should not be trusted with any money that may be awarded to the orphans she being extravagant and not capable of taking care of it. Children not listed boy or girl but one born 1820 other 1822. He died about 1837, at the age of 60.

Not supposed to be 2 brothers John Lightfoot. There is supposed to be the dad of the Eutaw, AL Captain John is the son of the Pamunky Neck John who was a Councilman in King William Co. There should be a merge of the duplicate John Lightfoot of Pamunky Neck who is the same as the Councilman and his son was Capt John of Eutaw, AL developer and speculator.

Erica Howton I believe I am a descendant of Nancy GaHaGa Lightfoot (Foster?). My sister and I have been looking at this as we have been told we had a Great Grandmother (4x) who was full blood Cherokee but we never knew her name. My sister recently found the connection through Ancestry. Our information shows her husband was a John Adair(b 1753 d1815). We show Nancy GaHaGa as b1755 in Cherokee Georgia, d1790 in Rome Georgia. We do not have information on who her parents were. I am not certain of our information on John Adairs parents. They had a son named Samuel b1781 Adairsville, GA, d1836, Adair Oklahoma. He is from whom our line comes. If you have any information on her parents and willing to share, that would be lovely.

This is that tree on Geni.

John Adair, Sr.

Hope it helps.
