I would like to know if anyone has any sources on Johann Altman being a Ranger or just militia. I see he had a military loan card from 1784 which indicates the government paying him back for supplying himself with his own supplies in Pounds. I just wish to see if anyone knows the exact unit he was apart of.

sorry, just what it says in rootsweb

Johann Peter Altman, Ranger Revolutionary War Vet is my 6th great grandfather.

That is awesome! he is my 5th Great Grandfather, my great grand father was born really late in life to my great great grand father. He was born in 1891 but my great great grand father served in the 59th Ohio and did the famous march to the sea under sherman, but he was married in 1869 at 25 years old and they didnt have my great grand father until almost 30 years later lol. I am only 33 years old. I just find it really interesting. I am digging directly from Westmoreland PA, I got in contact with some people who are digging the mustering sheets to find out the exact unit. Also you can call me at any time Harold. I sent a e mail back, I am not good at following up because I dont ever see the email notification thing at the top lol.

I like it cuz!

Private, Capt. Christopher Truby's Company.
