In a discussion with a FB group member, she states that the father of Thomas Crosby, who m. Elizabeth Hopkins (Nathaniel 4, Stephen 3, Giles, Stephen 1) was Thomas - & not his brother, John, as shown on Geni. Her source is the Silver Mayflower books.

Does anyone have any source material confirming John as Thomas' father?

@Erica Howton

You refer to Dea. Thomas Crosby, of Dutchess County and Elizabeth Crosby

I see no source data for this family.

Looks like two different Thomas Crosby’s have been mixed.

Neither has Experience Crosby

“Two Thomas Crosbys, cousins to each other, were born in Barnstable County, Massachusetts between 1703-1705, which causes some confusion when sourcing. In all of the birth and baptism information given for the two Thomases, the father is named, so the easiest thing to do is look at the father for the Thomas being researched: this Thomas Crosby's father is Thomas, the other Thomas Crosby's father is John. This Thomas appears to have lived his whole life in Barnstable County, dying there in 1757, whereas the other moved to New York in 1756.”

Elizabeth Hopkins died in Dutchess County.

She married Thomas, son of John.

So, it sounds like the Mayflower Silver book is incorrect. What is the source for the last quote, please?

And, thank you very much!

Dea. Thomas Crosby, of Dutchess County Has many references added now, open up the profile to review the sources.

I do not have access to the Silver Books, But did reference primary sources.

I wonder if the silver book quote is right?

The best way to compare is with a screen shot from the silver book uploaded to profile, perhaps.

Thank you, again, Erica! I don't have access to the Silver books, either, unfortunately

Frankly I have confidence the tree is now correct, based on primary sources and a researcher’s careful analysis.

Brothers married sisters and moved to Dutchess County. His cousin with same name born the same time stayed in Harwich.
