Private User Yes, a mess, maybe families with similar names & locations have crossed?
I undid merges to start over.
These are recent additions, I’ve added notes to profiles:
Johannes Ludwig Horing & Christina Maria Horing
I cleaned up a few things, probably due to the unmerging that was done.
The basic problem seems to have been cross-generational rather than cross-family. I removed a couple of people who were duplicates that were already there in the right places.
Anna Elisabetha Orwig, however, still appears with different birthdates in about three different places (!). I wish I knew which Herring she really married. ;-)
I've never heard of Ephraim<-->Ludwig before; the main German<-->English conversions are:
Johann<-->John
Heinrich<-->Henry
Andreas<-->Andrew
Gottfried<-->Godfrey
... but others are just left alone, e.g. Sebastian, Ludwig, Jacob, etc.
RE: Ms. Orwig: I already moved her children over, and I *think* I found the right place for her (two generations lower down!) but I need to confirm.
The guy she married was an immigrant directly from Germany, who immigrated on the Neptune in 1751. Here's a pretty complete profile describing him:
https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-1-228970511-1-724/ludwig...
He lines up pretty closely to the other Ludwig which is why the confusion.
I've created a profile for him here:
Is she related to Peter Orwig?

Orwigsburg Etymology: Peter Orwig
https://archive.org/stream/oldschuylkilltal01elli/oldschuylkilltal0...
It is claimed by the descendants of Peter Orwig, that prior to the laying out of Orwigsburg inl794-5, as recorded, one Gottfried Orwig and wife emigrated from Germany in 1747, and located upon a tract of forest land on what is now Kimmel's farm, and that Peter Orwig, was his grandson. If this claim is correct (there is no reason to doubt it) then Orwig settled in that locality before Hartmann or the Deiberts. It is probably trne that there were others, too, in the vicinity, some of whom never returned after the Indian scare.

Thank you for your help. I have looked and do not see duplicates.
Relationship cache needs refreshing. See https://www.geni.com/projects/Working-with-Relationships/17570 for “how to” and explanation.
It’s quite time consuming to fix this, I’ll do my best. Geni server eventually catches up anyway.
Fixed

Merger cleanup - https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=69158344620 & https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=68731749070 are two merges that have caused data conflicts. Some of the fields are locked so I won't touch.
Thanks Erica Howton.
Here is another with data conflicts - Mary Janes.
Causes - https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=73003667110, https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=72309791230, https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=69386769590. There are more merges to list.
William Janes (immigrant) has two mothers with similar names - Hannah Janes and Hannah Janes.
The 2nd profile was added today (!!!) as his wife. Grrrr. (When people learn to look before adding!)
Emily Kent Marget Merging round two underway, I resolve d/c’s as I merge, to source. If the profile has no notes I may leave them.
Erica Howton Thanks for the fixes.
At least one of the merges on Mary Janes was done by "the Geni Team". They are known for leaving data conflicts in their wake. Grr.
My complaint on the two Hannah Janes should have said "when will people learn to look before adding profiles! Especially Colonial-era people.
Curators have an ability to “auto merge,” - zip up matching profiles from bottom up. Those merges show as “Geni team” because the initial merge action may be some distance away, and ... it’s automated.
When I use “auto merge” I try and chase back up the tree and resolve the d/c’s but of course I miss many. We were recently given more ability to find conflicting data created by curator merges; in other words, no good deed goes unpunished. :(
I recently resolved all tree matches in my curating merge center. This project took 6 months, but I felt it a priority as there are many merges “only” a curator can do (isolated trees, abandoned trees). So in theory I can now work harder on data conflicts, but that’s theory. 1) life’s too short 2) it’s an impossible task without notes in profiles to guide so 3) make the notes first.
Honor Hannum has data conflicts.
