Henry Clack born 1805 England died 1872 England is on Geni with
* father Henry (Clack) Clarke [Convict "Admiral Gambier" 1811] (born 1793 England, Convicted and sent to Australia in 1811)
* mother Sarah Clarke - Howarth (born 1800 Australia)

Sarah was only 5 years old and in Australia when he was born in England so she cannot be his mother

Henry was 12 years old when he was born so is unlikely to be his father.

Can anyone add any information about how Henry CLACK is connected to this family?

Hi
Sarah Bellamy (Clarke, Howarth) was the wife of Henry Clack (changed his name to Clark), but he was married before in England. According to Wiki tree and what I have found, Henry Clack was born in 1787 in Suffolk, the son of William Clack and Priscilla Huggins. Before he came to Oz as a convict in 1811, he had two children with his first wife Mary Youell. Henry Clack was born in 1805 to Henry Clack and Mary Youell. Henry senior then had 8 children with Sarah Bellamy (b 1822 to 1841). He had another son Henry born in 1826. Sarah married Benjamin Howarth after the death of Henry Clack.

According to his 1818 marriage and the 1828 census Henry the convict was born c1793 making him just 12 when Henry Clark was born in 1805.

What evidence do you have that ties Henry Clack born 1805 to Henry Clack the convict?

Hi Leanne

Yes I know, the dates are not reassuring. The link with Mary Youell is from Wiki, and adding it may be compounding a smart copy accident that added the English children. I'll look into it when i have time, and take them out now if that doesn't cause problems.

Hi all
An update, I now have 2 DNA matches with descendants of Henry Clack and Mary Youell. I am confident that Henry Clack is the convict who became Henry Clark.

Cheers
Jenny
