Elizabeth Bland (Randolph) - Portrait of Elizabeth Randolph

Started by Private User on Monday, September 24, 2018

I removed the portrait of "Elizabeth Randolph" because it is not Elizabeth (Randolph) Bland, but it is the wife of Peyton Randolph
The woman in the portrait was Elizabeth Harrison before she married.
There are no portraits of Elizabeth (Randolph) Bland or of her husband (Richard Bland I) or her son (Richard Bland II) known to have survived the burning of Richmond VA during the Civil War. The portrait of Richard Bland II is from the original Rothermel painting and is believed to have been painted by Rothermel by referring to the portrait that then existed of Richard. This was after Richard's death but before the Civil War.
It would be nice if the museum in Richmond that holds Elizabeth (Harrison) Randolph's would correctly label it to avoid further confusion.
