Whoever contributed the information in the About section of this profile messed up and put Katherine's date of death as her possible date of birth. I don't know if it really matters or who has the option of correcting it, but I just thought I would point out the error.

Sure, that was confusing. I edited.

Private User I’m bringing over your John Ogden, of Rye issue to this discussion. Angus Wood-Salomon is working on it also.

The first problem is a contradiction in Sources.

The profile John Ogden, of Rye follows a more modern view of the family as quoted on https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/138408315/richard-ogden

John Ogden, of Rye Who married Ann Ogden is from an older source

https://archive.org/details/ogdenfamilyiname00whee/page/9

And looks to mostly be the same as his Geni son.

Let’s start backwards with your Ogden - can you tag him / her here?

Just to make this more fun, I see a comment in the profile for Richard Ogden, Jr., of Fairfield (who is not the father of John Ogden of Rye)

“see his brother John Ogden for this comment: "NOTE: Anything from the Wheeler genealogy for any ancestors prior to John and Jane Ogden is basically fraudulent. All research on English ancestors was done by a hired "expert," not Wheeler himself, and was later discovered to be completely made up by that researcher. There is no "Bradley Plain, Hampshire," in England! However, research on American ancestors is basically valid.”

This discussion explains the reasoning behind the findagrave family configuration:

Classification: Biography
Surnames: Ogden Lupton

I am confident that parents of John Ogden of Rye and Richard Ogden of Fairfield have been found in England. This is a long post and complicated by the number of Richards mentioned, but I believe it important in furthering our knowledge of this family, so please read with a critical eye and post your comments. With your participation and a thorough discussion, I believe we can prove or disprove this connection, and finally put Anjou’s false genealogy to bed.

I give Charles Boetsch credit for this discovery. He has posted on his Find-a-Grave sites that John (bn.1625) and Richard (bn.1621) were baptized in Bingley Parish West Riding Yorkshire, the sons of Richard Ogden (bn.c1597) and his wife, Ellen Lupton. Richard Ogden (bn.c1597), the father, was living in the hamlet of Hainworth within Bingley Parish at the time. ....”

Top of the line: Richard Ogden, of Lees
