In 1058 AD, the Domesday Survey noted that there was a priest at Huncote.
There was an ancient chapel (likely a "Chapel of Ease") at Huncote, dedicated to St. James. This chapel was in ruins by 1622.
Because Huncote was a part of the parish of Narborough for centuries, many locals used the church in Narborough. I paced off the walk from Narborough to the edge of Huncote and it was 850 paces.
The original Church records are held at the The Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland and include registers of baptisms from 1599 to 1984, marriages from 1609 to 1972 and burials from 1680 to 1937. Bishop's Transcripts are available from 1566 to 1847 (with lots of information missing).
This past summer, August 2021, a Honeycutt cousin shared:
"his yDNA 111 and the Big Y-500 matches a William Hungate in England that claims William Huncote as his ancestor"
and
"This William Hungate is my (brother's) closest match with a genetic distance of "1" at 111 testing and a genetic distance of 5 of 496 at the Big Y-500.
I am hoping MORE Honeycutts will join the Y study :)
