It looks like there is confusion here with these two profiles:
https://www.geni.com/people/Thomas-Smith-of-Ipswich/600000004034538...
and
https://www.geni.com/people/Thomas-Smith-of-Ipswich/600000000245988...

The first one is described as having unknown parents.
Robert and George Smith both had sons named Thomas
sources:
https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:George_Smith_%284%29
https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Thomas_Smith_%289%29

It looks like they are all different, but the one who is attached to Robert has the same profile pic (seal of Ipswich) as the first Thomas Smith (above) and George Smith. Maybe the pic should be changed on one of them? (to avoid confusion)

I think I have most of the children of Robert and George in the right place now, except for all those "extra" children of Robert who are shown after Mariah on the tree. Any idea to whom they belong?

Managers of Robert Smith, II,

I am contacting you about this profile: Robert Smith, of Boxford

From various sources I've looked at, it seems there is some confusion about the children of this man and those of https://www.geni.com/people/George-Smith-of-Ipswich/600000000936127....

I moved a few, trying to straighten it out. But sources conflicted on whether George or Robert was the father of some of them. And it looks like Robert has a bunch of extras at the end. Maybe part of the confusion is that George and Robert each married a different Mary French.

Can you figure this out? Thanks.

There’s a bad merge on Mary Smith giving her too many children.

She had 9 with Robert Smith, of Boxford

SMITH, Thomas
SMITH, Mary
SMITH, Phebe
SMITH, Ephraim
SMITH, Samuel
SMITH, Amy
SMITH, Nathaniel b. 7 SEP 1672 Topsfield, Essex, Mass. d. 1693
SMITH, Jacob
SMITH, Mariah

A better list of children:

Children:

*Thomas, born about 1656, married Martha Knowlton.
*Mary, Oct. 28, 1658, married, Feb. 2, 1680, John Towne.
*Phebe, Aug. 26, 1661, married June 24, 1684, Jacob Towne.
*Ephraim, Oct. 29, 1663, married, Sept. 6, 1694, Mary Ramsdell.
*Samuel, Jan. 26, 1666, see forward.
*Amy, Aug. 16, 1668, married Aug. 10, 1687, Joseph Towne.
*Sarah, June 25, 1670, died Aug. 28, 1673.
*Nathaniel, Sept. 7, 1672, died before 1719.Rebecca Symonds.
*Mariah, Dec. 18, 1677, married Peter Shumway

If anyone recognizes any of the Smiths attached here NN Smith, of Norfolk merge them into the correct place in the tree.

I’ve just added this comment:

===Comments

Be extra careful about Smith children. George Smith & this Mary French were NOT the parents of Mary, Phebe and Amy, who married Towne brothers.

In the will of Robert Smith, of Boxford

>5. I give to my daughter Mary Townes and to my daughter Phebe Townes and to my daughter Emy Townes and to my daughter Mariah Smith all my moveable estate within doors to be equally divided between them at the death of me and my wife. My true meaning is that what any of my daughters hve already had shall be accounted and if any has her share already, then they shall have no share of what do remain to be divided, for my will is that my daughters shall be equal in that estate with what they had had, and if there is [any one that?] do fail to their share, then they shall have the __________ that my daughter Mariah Smith shall have as good a share [for herself?] as any of my daughters that are already married.

Did we get the wife wrong here or have we mixed up Thomas Smiths?

Esther Morse Holmes is a different Thomas Smith (1648 - 1718)

This Is the other Thomas “Wheelwright” Smith

So did Innkeeper Thomas Smith marry Martha Knowlton or Martha Gilbert or both?

Martha Smith

A key issue is that this has a Mormon descent, but I don’t see much on Martha Knowlton except the name.

We’ve decided to merge Mary Gilbert and Mary Knowlton, with Knowlton as an alternative name.

ix. Mary French, bp. Assington 6 January 162[4?/]5; no record of her marriage or death is known and allegations that she married George Smith are unproven. The assertion of her marriage to Smith may be a mistaken conflation of her father Thomas French and her brother Thomas French, the latter of whom had a daughter “Mary Smith” named in his will.

Probably we should spin her off into two people (one the daughter, one the wife).

Mary Smith & George Smith, of Ipswich
