Came across this profile trying to make connections on my tree, noticed the father is said to be William Elam how is this when James last name is Allen ? Is there any proof that James was the son of William Elam .. the site from roots web attached to this has no father or mother listed for James only his wife and kids.. ..

I just came across these connections in a tree on Ancestry, came here and have the same question as posted in 2019 above - regarding the surname change from Elam to Allen.

I'm only related to the daughter named Louisiana if the Allen / Elam connections are accurate.

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Working on another connection brought me here again and I still have the same questions. I don't know if I'm related to these folks or not, as it depends on whether this James B. Allen is actually a biological Elam or not.

Any additional info would be appreciated. Thanks.
