Searching for any information about this Engelhard family before their emigration to the U.S.A. in about 1887. Solomon was born in 1829 and his wife in 1837. The children were born as follows: Georg in 1859, Sophia in 1863, Mayer in 1865, Mosesin 1869, Ray (?Rachel?) in 1871, Louis in 1871, and Lena in 1885. I have found that Sophia was born in "Unterriedenberg, Unterfranken, Bavaria" so am assuming that so were the other children and alos that the family probably lived there too. The entire family emigrated to the U.S. in 1887 and settled in Bucyrus, Ohio where the children grew up and both parent and several of the children eventually died as adults and are buried there. The son Mayer established a clothing store in Bucyrus which he operated for about 50 years (until closed in 1947. all remained faithful in their Jewish faith. Perhaps someone can tell me something more of their life in Germany. Our Bucyrus Historical Society is looking for further information about the family. Please contact me at bucytalent@aol.com. Thanks! John K. Kurtz
