@ My maiden name was Rickards, and I have documentation showing my line back as far as Calvin Rickard/Rickards. Then on-line searches become muddy, conflating the many Samuel Rickard ancestors. Some say Calvin was the son of Samuel Rickard & Zeruiah/Zerivah Bumpus; some say he was the son of Samuel Rickard and Rebecca Snow but the dates suggest an omitted generation; some say of Henry and Alice Oldham. Identifying THAT Henry has been a challenge because while some can connect him to Samuel & Zeruiah, not all do. I seek documentation for that connection.
A second question regarding Samuel, son of Henry & Alice: did someone reverse the places of his birth and death? I suspect he may have been born in Plymouth, Plymouth, Mass. & died in St. Johnsville, Montgomery NY, not the other way around as reported on line.
I show several Israel offspring in both lines, which muddies the waters even further because my great-grandfather was Israel Rickards ((1840-1928) of Great Valley, Cattaraugus, NY.
