Took a quick peek. I can see there is an 1851 document listing Moses Israel. I've recently not renewed subscription at MyHeritage, so not getting full documents. It doesn't say any parents names, but two trees do list the parents - Sarah Mordecay Cohen and another just says Sarah Cohen. On Family Search, I can see a marriage of an Abraham Israel and Sara ISRAEL, dated 15 May 1810, in Koenigsmacker, Moselle, Lorraine, France. Not sure it's this couple, using her married name ? if it's the correct Abraham Israel, it appears he died in Luxembourg in
4 Nov 1867. They seem to have had a daughter Raizelle Israel, B: 22 Mar 1814, in
Koenigsmacker, Moselle, Lorraine, France. Not sure this person is right. Seems like a fit, to an Abraham and Sara. Possibly siblings or parents are wrong. ?
Thanks @Linda-Marrone. But I dont think the French couple are the Abraham Israel and Sarah Cohen I am talking about. This couple are English and they are in the 1851 census with some of their children. There are also synagogue records relating to them and their children. And more.
My issue is that everybody seems to assume that this pair were the parents of Moses Israel. But I can see no evidence for that. All I can see is that Moses' father was called Abraham - but it could be any Abraham. And there is another Abraham Israel around at the time who was a fruiterer, just like Moses.
I just wondered if anybody had looked at the Bevis Marks records or something and had found any hard evidence of Moses' parentage.
Lisa,
I would like you please (if you would) to contact me privately about the family of MOSES ISRAEL and ELIZABETH SOLOMON.
You are absolutely right and most of what is written is entirely unproven and copied from other researchers, who have jumped to conclusions.
