Richard & Alice Lane did not have a son named Joseph. "Joseph" is an incorrect expansion of the abbreviation "Jo." that appears on a passenger departure list. The correct name is John, born in 1631. Since Joseph was also born in 1631, they would have to have been twins, but there's no evidence for this, especially since only Samuel, Jo., and Oziell are listed on the passenger list.
