The Y-DNA for this "Boehme" Line begins with the father of this Friedrich Wilhelm, also named Friedrich Wilhelm (née Böhme) [b. 10 Dec 1827, Sörnewitz (near Leipzig), Kingdom of Saxony; d. 20 May 1888, Dahlen, Leipzig, Saxony]. I say "née" because Böhme was his mother's maiden surname. Church records from the archives of Cavertitz Parish indicate that his mother, Johanne Rosine Böhme [b.16 Feb 1802, Sörnewitz (near Leipzig), Electorate of Saxony, Holy Roman Empire; d. 08 Aug 1884, unknown], did not know the name of his father. Many trees indicate that his name was Gottlob Wittich, however to date, I have seen no evidence to support this claim.
My brother & I are descended from Johanne Rosine's brother, Johann Gotthelf, so Michael's Y-DNA test cannot help solve the mystery. However, we would certainly like to know the conclusions drawn from any DNA matching that may take place. Please let our family know at BoehmeBones@yahoo.com. Thank you. Krystine Boehme
