I know that I am a direct grandson of Thomas Chandler through his great-great grandson William Chandler who came to the American colonies in the 1600s. I would like to find someone who knows they are a direct DNA link to John Oare Le Chaundeler of Bishop’s Stortford so I can see if we also have a positive DNA link between us. This would show the link between Thomas and his father John.

You refer to John Oare Le Chaundeler & sons seen as Leonard Samon Chandler &
John Chaundeler, de Oare - the latter had sons. Notice they are in a different part of England.

“ Group 9 has been identified as the descendants of William and Annis Chandler of Roxbury, Massachusetts, formerly of Bishops Stortford in Hertfordshire. ...”

Group 9 on the results page is haplogroup R-M269.

There is no common ancestor.

Being new to this process how might I find a way past Thomas Chandler? I have taken a DNA test and can see results but Im really not sure what Im looking for or where to look

History ends with Thomas Chandler, I - it’s the limits of records. So even if Y DNA could postulate a common ancestor further back than him, there’s no extant record, it seems, with a name to assign. And remember that Chandler is an occupational surname: further back the surname could be anything, and before then, no surname at all.

What comes to mind is contacting the Chandler Family Association for their take on the situation. But I think you can rule out the Wiltshire family as being un related right now.

I’ve been looking at the site, and really encourage you to contact the CFA. For example, this article is illuminating:
