Born in La Rochelle, France. She lived in Long Island with her husband, but was not born there. Please correct her birthplace error. Thank you.
I've been aware of this for quite some time, and just now getting around to addressing the problem. By ALL early family accounts, the Francis Gano family arrived in New Rochelle, NY, on the "De Bever" from France (by way of England) in 1686, not long after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes. In fact that was the only reason they left France in the first place. Her father was a successful businessman who had to give up everything in order to save himself and family.
