It appears that Christopher Hatten, or Christopher Hatton Adams, is the son of John Hatton, III (John Hatton of Stanton) and Jane (Shute) Hatton, and the father of Robert Adams of Wales & Martin's Hundred (Robert Adams, of Wales & Martin's Hundred). A full descendancy chart of the Hatton Adams family can be found here: http://srvg.org/Members-Only/Library/Surnames/Descendants-of-Henry-... Other than the missing link I mentioned and the consistent use of "Hatton Adams" for previous generations, this tree seems to corroborate what's already in Geni and is the best source I have been able to find so far.

There are no sources cited in this register report.

This page has several links to information which may be helpful, but requires an Ancestry.com subscription to access, which I do not have.

May I suggest you look into the family of Christopher Hatten ? There’s a baronet & the peerages of England are accessible books. I think you will quickly see that it’s unlikely there’s an unaccounted for son who changed his name to Adams, originated from Wales, and pioneered Virginia, without any of his contemporaries knowing.

Of course I could be wrong, and there’s another approach to take also. The first arrivers to the Virginia Colony - and their pedigrees / descent - are generally well described in sources like the Encyclopedia of Virginia, Tyler’s, College of William and Mary publications ... so just keep googling Robert Adams of Martin Hundred and see what’s out there that’s documented.

Sorry - I should have tagged Jane Hatton & Sir Christopher Hatton, Kt., MP

We have articles quoted in their profiles.

I just found this comment on line.

Back to your Hatten question. If you look at that line as posted on most web sites (Ancestry.com), most people have mindlessly copied from other people. They show Robert who died in Martins Hundred. That he had a son William who died in 1680.And William had a son Robert born c.1690.That is 10 years after his "father" William died.As you have seen and will see, it is impossible to get all of the garbage genealogy out of the system.Everyone is too anxious to fill in their tree, right or wrong.

It is certainly possible that our Robert Adams of Goochland who married Mourning (probably Lewis), is descended from the Hatten line and from the named Robert who was a Burgess. But there is no proof.Keep beating the bushes and maybe something will turn up.

So far, the DNA does not get us back to any European ancestor. We are certainly closer DNA matches to the English Adams than we are to any Hatten's DNA that I have seen.
