1861 census shows Daniel living with Mrs. Frances Darnell in the Welton Vicarige. Marriage to Jane Stansfield is in 1970 (marriage records).
I suspect that Daniel Charles West Darnell may come from an even earlier marriage ... Frances and Daniel Snr. had young children in 1861, with quite a break since Daniel Jnr. was born.
