I took a good look at the Census page. It appears the same handwriting appears on the entire page and therefore wasn't the handwriting of each person. It was the handwriting of the census taker. That explains the wrong spelling of the last name. The census taker spelled the last name Gardener. That's not correct. The correct spelling is GARDNER. The information is correct other than the spelling on the last name.
