Found Dead.
A very old resident of Rouse Hill, in the person of Joseph Sherwood, aged 69, was found dead two miles from his home, at 7 o'clock on Saturday morning last. Deceased and his son had been working some distance from their house, and on the evening previous the son came home, leaving his father to follow with a bag of vegetable. The latter not arriving, the family became alarmed, and a search was made, and deceased's body was found by his son early next morning. The matter was reported to Constable Hatch, who had the body removed to the residence of Mr Smith, deceased's son-in-law. The Coroner at Parramatta was communicated with, but an inquest was not deemed necessary: Of late deceased had complained of ill-health, and his death was attributed to heart disease. The remains were iuterred in C.E. Cemetery at Rouse Hill on Sunday evening, Rev C Blacket officiating.

In Memoriam.
SHERWOOD.— In loving memory of our dear father, Joseph Sherwood, who died 30th June, 1893. One year to-day, death's shadow fell, And wrapped our hearts in gloom — One year ago we said farewell, And laid him in the tomb. Inserted by his loving sons, Joseph and Arthur Sherwood.

Mr. Joseph Sherwood, a respected identity, died very suddenly at House Hill on Friday week at the age of 69 years. It appears he was working at his usual employment in the bush on that day with his two sons, and when it was time to knock off the two lads immediately proceeded home in order to make preparations for the concert held in Rouse Hill the same evening. It was also a usual thing for them to be home before their father. Before Mr. Sherwood proceeded home he went to a vegetable garden to procure some cabbage to take with him. After the boys had attended the concert they went home, but to their surprise their father had not arrived there. A search-party at once set out, consisting of Joseph and Arthur, his two sons, James Cornwell, Henry Skelton, and Alfred Smith. Search was continued all night without any trace of the old man, but at 7 o'clock next morning he was discoved quite dead, lying close to a large tree near a wire fence. It is supposed he was seised with illness and and was leaning against the tree when he expired. He had for years been suffering from heart disease, which no doubt caused his death. His remains were interred in the Rouse Hill cemetery on Sunday.
