e-mail thread between myself and Charles Cawley of Medlands:
Hello
My name is Terry Jackson (Mrs). I am a volunteer curator on Geni.com and you are a trusted source for us when merging trees and profiles. Our aim is to produce a reliable world family tree. I have found a profile that someone else connected to the tree on Geni as daughter of Hamon de Chateau Loir and wife Hildeburge de Bellême,
Hildeburge de Chateau-du-Loir
According to Medlands in
Chapter 3. SEIGNEURS de CHÂTEAU-du-LOIR
they had 5 children and this does not include Hildeburge. The other person cited a Victorian French book: https://books.google.com/books?id=M_ZAAAAAcAAJ&pg=PA189&lpg...
Do you think this book is correct?

Hello Terry
The short answer is that it is difficult to tell. Unfortunately the book cites no source for this information, a pity especially as it does cite sources elsewhere. I know nothing about a Malicorne family so cannot cross-check. Finding out more about them might be the best way forward. Maybe there's a book or article about them which cites sources.
The problem is that for this early period so many old secondary sources included people for whom there was no basis, information which has been copied over the years. Weeding them out is what I try to do, but it is not easy.
On the basis of the passage in this book alone, I would not add this person to my document but I am rather cautious.
It was nice to read that I am "a trusted source"! Thank you for the vote of confidence.
Happy to help any time.
Best wishes
Charles Cawley
