FamilySearch:
From Mountain Memories page 45:
Mrs Crutchfield gave history and origin of the Peek Name as it was recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086 in England, and of Robert Peek receiving the Coat of Arms December 13, 1598 from Queen Elizabeth. In 1622 one Robert Peek sailed from England in the ship "Margaret and John" and settled at James City, Va. The family moved to King William County, Va., where Geony Peek was born in 1720. Though an old man he furnished guns and supplies to the American Army in the Revolutionary War. He has 4 sons, one being William, born 1755, who married Elizabeth Shockley.
