Wikipedia lists Elder John Parker as the grandfather of Cynthia Ann Parker who was the mother of Quanah Parker. If that's true, then Thomas Parker wouldn't be the father of Silas Mercer Parker but Elder John Parker would be.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Parker_(pioneer)
"Although Parker and four other members of the Parker clan who were present during the siege were killed at the Fort Parker massacre, several of his kinsmen and children escaped alive, while five remained in the hands of the Comanches. One such family member was his granddaughter, Cynthia Ann Parker, who remained alive in the Comanche nation for twenty-five years and became a member of their tribe."
Also, Silas Mercer Parker is listed among John's children on Find-a-Grave:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7433560/john-parker
So either Wikipedia and Find-a-Grave have the connection wrong or they're wrong here on Geni. ?
Also, I checked and on Ancestry, these descendants' trees have Elder John Parker and Sarah 'Sallie' (White) Parker as the parents of Silas Mercer Parker:
Tree: Myrtle Alice Parker
Owner: Lisa Benham Lewis
Tree: Parker Family Tree
Owner: Ginger Coleman
Tree: Cynthia Ann PARKER II Family Tree

Sarah Parker - shows Silas Mercer Parker as a child in the About notes
Elder John Parker - These notes in the About section also include Silas Mercer Parker as his child:
Birth: Sep. 15, 1758 Maryland, USA Death: May 19, 1836 Limestone County Texas, USA
Founder of Fort Parker. He helped build the Parker Fort where he was one of the five that was killed during the Indian raid. He is buried under an oak tree in a mass grave approximately one and one half miles from the fort. Today, the area is known as the Fort Parker Memorial Park, and many relatives of the families are interred there too. (bio by: Helen L. Smith Hoke)

Sarah 'Sallie' (White) Parker's Find-a-Grave also lists Silas Mercer Parker as her son:

So far I haven't seen anything documenting the parents Thomas Parker and Martha (Brown) Parker as Silas' parents.
Thanks, Cheley. I'm hoping the assigned curator Marsha Gail Veazey will take a look at the information and make any necessary corrections.
I'd love for all the lines on Geni to be correct, but I also think it's very important to have the lines like this of famous people like Comanche chief Quanah Parker, a descendant of this Silas Mercer Parker, correct.
Marsha, I understand. I still prefer to leave any changes to such profiles to the curator rather than make changes on lines that aren't direct to me. This is just a cousin line for me and I only discovered that a day or so ago, so not really familiar with them myself but just noticed that the information was inconsistent on Geni with what I was seeing elsewhere.
Well, I'm back here again this evening and see the same parents are lissted and not the ones shown in his About section notes and listed on his Find-a-Grave page:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7433552/silas-mercer-parker
Parents listed in both places as John Parker and Sarah White, not as the Thomas Parker and Martha Brown connected here on Geni, as previously discussed. We need someone to correct this, please.

Someone has linked the Elder John Parker and his siblings (Daniel Parker; Thomas Parker; Susanne Daughhetee and Francis Parker) of Parker yDNA FamilyGroup #05 with Thomas Parker 1768-1846 born Hampshire Co., VA and died in Todd Co., KY of Parker yDNA FamilyGroup #18. Only 5 of 25 yDNA markers match and 23 of 25 need to match to prove a relationship.

Regardless of any misinformation that may be out there related to any high profile person on Wikipedia or ancestry or findagrave.com, it is well documented through not only historians, but also documented paperwork and DNA testing that Cynthia and Parker's father saw this Mercer Parker was the son of the Elder John Parker and Sally White parker.
Wayne Parker, of the Parker Family DNA project, has correctly indicated the Elder John Parker and Cynthia Ann Parker and Silas Mercer Parker as family group #05 of the Parker DNA project. I am a Parker in the family group #07 (would have loved to been in #05!!). His research is very sound and very accurate. and his research also coincides with the historians and the paper trail that is well documented of who Silas Mercer Parker's parents are.
Why this is even becoming a discussion is beyond belief. This is something that is set in stone it is proven, it is documented and there should be absolutely no reason why these two names were removed from Silas Mercer Parker's profile as his parents.
Whomever the curator is needs to be responsible and revert the changes back to indicate the Elder John Parker and Sally white Parker as the parents of Silas Mercer parker.
I've noticed this discussion has been going on for over a year. This is ridiculous. Someone from GENI needs to step in and make these changes to reflect the correct history that has been proven time and time again.
