James Kerr Henage - My father s dad

I have no information about my father George Henry Henages dad James Kerr Henage and in particular America Susan Hughes Henage. I was told over 50 years ago by my mother that I had a grandmother named America. My father grew up hard and never talked about his parents. My brother James Kenneth Henage was told by our that we had a grandmother who was Black. I am wanting to know if America Susan Hughes Henage was Black. I would love to know about or meet some of the Hughes family. I am 70 so I am not going to be around for a long time.
