Some family sources indicate he was married twice. Both to wives called Gertrude. One wife with last name Bintz, and one with last name Bentz. Considering that Hans himself is attached to both last names, it is more likely that the clerk misspelled the last name than he did in fact had such a coincidence of a mixed named wives?
