Somehow this ancestor connects back to Germany the story is (as given by my mother's uncle who went to Germany in search of genealogy) that the family lived in Germany and used the spelling Brahms and that their line intersects someplace with the family of the composer. They were said to immigrate to Sweden through Holland and that is where they changed the spelling to Broms.
