@ John Swanner Hello. I am a descendant of Chief Nathan Kirkland through my great grandmother Lura Rhymer-Perian. It's a long line so if you want more info I'm happy to share. I found Kirkland's mother on Ancestry. it shows her name as Sibella Odom. There's some speculation as to his father and why his mother would've named the children after the father (Kirkland) instead of herself. Anyway, wondering if you could confirm for me any of this information. Also I'm curious to know if he was really a chief or if it was a title given because of his age. Also there was a story that he saved Andrew Jackson's life and then Prez. Jackson put him on the Trail of Tears. Wondering if you have confirmation. Thanks.
