Cynthia Curtis Hicks had posted a discussion under one or more of the children of John Martin and Mary Samuel about the dates not making sense. I got a notification on it since I was following John and Mary as my direct acnestors, but when I re-examined the connections based on what Cynthia posted, I had to conclude those weren't her parents. Here is what I posted to that discussion:
"My personal tree info doesn't match what's on Geni. I have that John Martin and Mary Samuel married based on this info:
Name: John Martin
Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 1740
Marriage Place: Richmond and Essex, Virginia, USA
Spouse: Mary Samuel
Comments: [p.164] 1740, MARTIN, JOHN Married Mary, daughter of James Samuel
Page: page 164
When I got to really looking at what is connected both here and in my personal tree, I don't think my connection to this Martin line is correct and I'm going to disconnect from it based on this:
I know my Pearson line better and it's better documented. It states my Peter Pearson married as his 2nd or 3rd wife:
MARY ANN MARTIN 1746 in NC, daughter of JOHN MARTIN. She was born 1711 in Pasquitank, NC.
Marriage 3 Peter PEARSON b: 19 JUN 1711 in Perquimans County, North Carolina •Married: 10 MAR 1745/46 in Perquimans County, North Carolina
I had Mary Ann (Martin) Pearson born 1715, so off a bit there, but in any case, there's no way she could be the daughter of John Martin and Mary Samuel who didn't marry until 1740! Don't know why I never noticed that before! She herself got married in 1745-1746.
So, thanks for prompting me to re-examine these connections! Now I've got to fix my line! lol"
And this is why I've disconnected them as her parents.
