Hello, I have been focusing on this person and related families in the "Clan Henderson Family Group R-K1: BY42705" Project (found here: https://www.geni.com/projects/Clan-Henderson-Family-Group-R-K1-BY42... ).

This group shows a close genetic match, within the last 300-400 years, of all 5 included DNA kits. Solid documentation and thorough research lead me to the conclusion that James Henderson who died c. 1807-1812 in Clermont County, Ohio is James Henderson from Greenbrier Co., VA (now WV). He is not, however, the James Henderson proposed here as being from Augusta County, Virginia, with the ancestry previously documented for that family.

For the time being, I propose splitting this person between the Augusta County, VA, and the Greenbrier County, VA(WV) linkages. Thoughts?

Hi Greg, I think you are correct. I am a direct descendent of James Henderson of Clermont County. I have seen and have a copy of the probate record, and sadly it is not overly helpful. Just a list of effects. The one interesting piece is it lists his middle initial as "W."

Hi Laura, I just saw your message. This platform isn't my favorite in spite of its being what Clan Henderson partially uses.

I've been looking at this family again and have now cast my gaze upon the huge mess of Hendersons found in Amherst Co., VA. I suspect there are at least two large but unrelated Henderson families in this area c. 1750-1820. It seems quite likely this family descends from one of them.

Untangling this mess will take months, though, but I did want to mention it as one of my upcoming projects.

This James Henderson is not the son of Lt. James Henderson as has been shown via Y-DNA testing referred to above.
