• Per researcher, Ralph Adkins, Jacob Stover & Mary Adkins were both in Snow Creek District of Lunenberg Co, VA in 1754; which is also the birth year for Mary's oldest child, David Adkins.

• DNA evidence suggests that Jacob Stover, Jr. was the father of Mary's children (him being at least the most likely candidate).

• It is unclear why Mary's children bore the Adkins name.

Mary didn't get married to anyone, as far as paper trails can prove. Three of her children are all Y-DNA tested to different surnames. Stover is one of them (modern descendant Ralph who had articles written about this connection). One connection is to modern day descendants with the Oxford surname. I can't recall the third one.

I uploaded a document today "Bridge on Pigg River" which talks about Jacob Stover building the bridge that connected his land on one side of the Pigg River to William Atkinson's land (Mary's father). This would have made it easy for Jacob and Mary to meet.

The Adkins-Horton website is a bit dated based on more modern research within the last year or so.

Sherrod Adkins's father is Perhaps Jacob Stover, Jr. by Y-DNA connection

Jacob Adkins's father is an Unknown Oxford by Y-DNA connection

Nancy Adkins is believed to be fathered by Perhaps Jacob Stover, Jr. because descendants of Littleberry and Nancy Adkins have autosomal DNA connections to descendants of the Stover line but have none of the same connections to Sherrod's lines. This led to the belief that the DNA didn't come from Littleberry (line not connected to Sherrod) but from Nancy (Sherrod's sister).
