Currently the only source on this family lists only 2 children (1 son Hugh, 1 daughter Jean)

According to Burke's Landed Irish Gentry:
Alexander Hamilton, of Killyleagh, county Down, was the second son of Hugh Hamilton (who settled at Lisbane, near Bangor, county Down).
Alexander married Jean, daughter of John Hamilton of Belfast, and died 26 Jan 1676 leaving issue:
Hugh Hamilton of Ballybrenagh, his only son;
Jean, who married William Sloane of Chelsea (the 4th son of Alexander Sloane of Killyleagh, and brother of Sir Hans Sloane, 1st Bt, MD, President Royal College of Physicians).

Alexander was born 1615 and died 1676 in Ireland. He was buried at Killileagh, Down Ireland. He married Jean Hamilton in 1659. They had 7 children. Alexander may have died of the Black Plague as did his 3 daughters. They are all buried at the same plot # in Killileagh - N. 446.

No sources attached.

That is not the only source. I’ve been helping Transcribe hand written records as early as 700s from the presbyterian church there in Killyleagh who mentions Alexander’s Hamilton’s family. I would think that these church records that are hand written with the priest talking about baptism birth marriages and death supersedes any autographs all book on the subject

If you have been to Killyleagh as much as I have you will quickly know they have NOT wanted anything digitized for years, they would rather you come to the library where those records are and wear gloves. I’ll be glad to screen shot proof of transcribing if you want it. Wikepdia is crap it’s not legit you can post the sun is purple and it will not be questioned. As a professional genealogist you cannot use that as reliable source.

Even the British Archives in London will tell you not to use other biographies if you can have live access in the library. They have found many times people will add and take away children or spouses when there is proof otherwise in their archives. I am also a member of that library. Killeyleagh and north Ireland refuses to send archival records to London, they want to keep it for themselves. Go to Ireland and talk to the historians they will tell you what I'm saying. South Ireland sends their records, but not North Ireland. I guess I've been pestering Killeyleagh long enough to at least help them transcribe their documents. So they do not run it thru a coping machine, but the custodians hold up the church records, and someone else takes pictures with the phone or camera. Believe me, it's hard to translate old English and Gaelic the way they combine letters and so on.

Hi Breya
Could you please add sources into Geni for these profiles - currently they have no information other than their name, no birth date, no baptism date, no locations.

Sources do not have to be digital copies of the records. They need to say where the information comes from in a format that a person can find them to verify if they wish. If from a handwritten baptismal book It would not be unreasonable to show the book name, location where accessed and the page of the book. I would also expect that a baptism date and location would be on the profile.

Did you see the link I submitted in the previous feed? The Killyleagh library in Ireland also said for anyone who wants source for any County Down records there are NOT any viable trustworthy biographies printed! When I get off work I will post the Bible page from First Presbyterian church records for this ancestor of mine.

Hi Breya,

At this point you have not added any sources for these children other than that you are transcribing records.

All I am asking is that you add your sources for these children into the profiles.

Just a note to suggest a typo in baptism for Alexander. You show him born 1615 Ireland, baptized 1718 in Scotland. Thought you'd want to correct it.
