I am trying to understand the connection between Clouse or Pinkham and McDonald.
David Hill married Sarah Jane McDonald marriage certificate says father: Peter McDonald and mother: Sarah Pinkham. In the census 1881 it lists David Hill, Sarah wife, and mother in law as Sarah Clouse. A Sarah Clouse with exact dates can be traces through the census back to 1861. Was there another marriage with David Hill or something that is missing?
Any insight would help.
The census with David Hill and Sarah wife and Sarah Clouse Mother I Law is the right record and person right down to the land records.
Who is this Sarah Clouse and how is she Sarah Pinkham or are they two different Sarah's.
Wondering if there is any connections

David Hill immigrated in 1861 to Canada from Ireland not married

some how this hotel and people are connected to David and (Sarah) same Hotel
Census Year: 1871 Walpole
Head Jorael Clouse 40 Ont German Inn Keeper
Wife Sarah Clouse 44 born NB ( possible mother in law of David Hill)
Elizabeth 18 ont German

Could David have married and lost a wife between 1862 and 1868

David Hill married 1869 Sarah McDonald Parents Peter and Sarah Pinkham

Who is this mother in law Sarah Clouse?

I can't find any solid proof to back my suspicions, but I believe the Sarah Clouse (mother in law) is also known as Sarah Jane McDonald (Pinkham).

I haven't found a date of death for Peter McDonald and I believe he passed away and Sarah remarried to man named Clouse, possibly Jarvis Clouse
As I said, I have no definite proof of any of this, but I am still looking.

I believe the headstones in the pictures are one and the same, and could give some credibility to my theory.

Hi Kenneth
I am thinking this too.

I added Jorael Clouse as a second husband for Sarah Jane. If we find this information to be incorrect, the relationship can be deleted if or when that happens.

I think i found Peter McDonald and family in the 1861 Census. for some resign Peter is in the census but his family were omitted but when you look at the film there they are the closes match to his family. i checked the stats. Looking in the 1861 census for Peter McDonald unknwon age, Sarah mother 39, and daughters Sarah 17 and Daughters Christina Emma 11 found grave site may24 1850 to may 28 1871. findagrave 161681980. I know Sarah mother was from New Brunswick canada and from the census of 1901 that Sarah daughter listed father as being born in Ontario. with this information i searched all the 1861 census records and found no matches until i when back and searched all 139 records of peter McDonalds any one 40 plus and found Census Year: 1861
Item Number: 2888098
Surname: Mcdonald
Given Name(s): Peter
Age: 57
Province: Canada West (Ontario)
District Name: Oxford
Sub-District Name: Blenheim

The weird thing is the rest of his family are not listed in the index database on the government website I checked all combinations with out results.
Someone Hiccupped on this one.

So that said here is the hand written results from micro film.
The way the writer of the census writes their 9's they look like 7's and very much could be read this way. If you follow the other record I see the same results in the 9's and 7. it looks like a lazy 9. Where is the old-time school teachers to interpret the handwriting. Lol

Peter McDonald Labour Canada 57 or 59 married
Sarah McDonald New Brunswick 37 or 39
Sarah J McDonald Canada 18
Charles McDonald Canada 16
Emma McDonald Canada 11
Mary McDonald Canada 7
Violet McDonald Canada 5

I completed checking all the 139 film records to be complete and found only one other close match but due to the age and name variation Savanna 38 and no Sarah or sister Emma i am concluding this above record to be the Peter and Sarah I am looking for because there is only one match. Statistically speaking the probability of all these factors being repeated would be equivalent to win the lottery. an investigation will have to be done on Land record to tie things up and see if any further information can be found. i found in my family land records it was the only place I could find when David Hill died; father of David Hill & Sarah we are searching.
If you are in agreement i think up dating Peters date of birth based on 59 and 1861 Peter was born in 1812.

When i looked back at the tree it is the exact match. Family order dates are off for Mary was born before violet. and Charles is 2 years younger then Sarah. Mary is 2 years older then Violet.

You have found more information than I have been able to, so I have no problem with your update.

By any chance have you tried to read the inscription of the headstone that shows Sarah Clouse on it? What I can make out is:
Christina Emma
Beloved Daughter Of
Peter & Sarah
McDonald
Born May 24, 1850
Died Sept 28, 1871
Sarah Clouse
Born May 22, 1822
Died Dec 13, 1906

Yes thank you. I have visited the site Onlne and in person this is my family line. I am managing many of the grave sties on findagrave.com

Christina Emma McDonald Sister of Sarah Jane who married David Hill
Father Peter McDonald and Mother: Sarah Pinkham
born may 24 1850 Died Sept 28, 1871

Mother: Sarah Pinkham / McDonald / Clouse
born may 22 1822 Died Dec 13 1906

I think this is Sarah Clouse (census 1881) (age 59 in 1881) remarried widowed again I am looking for. I think I seen a single man with the below people somewhere in the early census I am going to try to find this I think this is the man she married.

Census Year: 1881
Item Number: 4084738
Surname: CLOUSE
Given Name(s): Sarah
Age: 60
Province: Ontario
District Name: Norfolk North
Sub-District Name: Townsend

Sarah Clouse 60 Ont R Bapt English Tailoress
Lavina Clouse 32 Ont R-Bapt German
Jacab Clouse 30 ont R-Bapt German Post Master

it reads

David Hill
"Native of Corragarry Monaghan Ireland
Jan 12 1846 died jun 22 1904
sacred to the menory of
Sarah Jane MacDonald
beloved wife of David Hill
1844 1912

This T-stone was put up by Joseph's family line, David's brother years later but only Sarah's last name was wrong; it should be McDonald. I do not think they had any kids that lived.

David and Sarah where married Apr 27 1869

There is a family tree shown in familysearch.org for an Israel Clouse that may be pertinent:

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/LJ55-VDL

I do not have access to familysearch or ancestry. I am wondering which would be best for me.

I guess it would depend on your budget for your research of your/our family tree. Myself, I am on a limited income, so I try to use the lessor expensive means for my research.

FamilySearch is free to use and is sponsored by the Mormon Church. I have found instances where the information they provide is in error, but for the most part it is a good source of information.

I belong to Ancestry.Com, but am not a paying member, so my access is restricted.

I also use FindAGrave for information about our ancestors. Some of the profiles have biographies that contain some excellant information.

Thanks for the help and connections. Thanks for the information on Gen Accounts i need the information I think I will sigh up for a few free accounts. I am very limited as well. I will send you personal messages in the future from now on. I think this section has been solved.
Thanks for the help I think we made some great success at bridging the gaps.

Ain't this fun .. lol
