My grandfather Eric James Vincent Hardy was left with a family called Percival /Brown in Clay Cross Derbyshire sometime after his birth 23 /01/1905 and his 6th birthday.
His birth certificate says his father was James Hardy and his mother was Maude Brown. The address is Sheffield.
It would be very convenient to put Maude as some relation to the Percival /Brown family but we cannot find her unless of course she changed her name as it also says she was married which is another fib . James Hardy shows up in the 1904 Whites directory, living at 117 Sharrow Street , Ecclesall Beirlow Sheffield then like a puff of smoke they both disappear once Eric is born. Any help, anything at all would be gratefully received.
