Millie M. Bradford - millie birthdate

Determining the date of birth from a US census record is a notoriously unreliable method.

Given the very precise date in the Geni profile(ie not just a year) it looks like there should be some other source around that is likely more reliable.

Millie M Mc Derby died in Clyde Township, Allegan, Michigan on 30 Oct 1924 her Michigan Death Certificate states that her DOB was

Given that she was a 79 year old widow when she died the date on the death certificate presumably comes either from a child of hers or some other records that the clerk creating the death certificate had access to.

Millie married Luther Mcderby 27 Dec 1912 in Manlius, Allegan, Michigan giving her age at the time as 65 (ie DOB 1847).

Millie must have married Thomas Brooks about 1870, I would be looking for this marriage record as it is possible it might have her DOB.

The grave marker on Findagrave https://images.findagrave.com/photos/2012/317/100665255_13528622366... says 1846-1924 while the profile on FindAGrave gives a DOB of 11 Jan 1846. I suspect that this date is a conflation of someone who knows her birthday date and combined this with a calculated year of birth based on her being 79 when she died.

I have no idea where the current DOB on her Geni profile comes from: 12 October 1847 perhaps Private User can tell us where he got the original date of 12 October 1846 from.

For now I have set the date based on her Death Certificate.

Regards Chancy Brooks it looks from his marriage and death certificates that he was actually the step-son of Thomas Brooks, his father in fact being named Chancy Lewis, Lewis being the surname that Chancy Brooks used for his marriage and also at the time of his death.
