Between the information on page 676 in the first link below linking John Houston to Sam Houston of Texas fame and that on page 758 in the second link below that says Janet Huston Clendenin was Samuel's sister, I think Janet Clendenin's actual father is this John Huston (John Houston). I am not sure why she isn't listed as his daughter, but it seems plausible to me.
