Do we have any record of birth for Gerritt? Trees seem to agree that he was son of a Herman, but there is dispute about which Herman. The Chris Chester database source linked in the bio here does not seem to indicate any parents for Gerritt. http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~brouwergenealogydata/genealogy/p617....
WikiTree shows Gerrit's father as Herman b. 1545, who was son of Johan II b. 1520, and grandson of Johan b. 1495. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Strycker-4
But Geni shows Gerritt's father as Herman, b. 1525, who was son of Johan b. 1495. Since Gerritt was born 1584, this Geni path seems less likely.
A few observations based on the text in his About:
Gerrit Stryker was the son of Herman Strijcker. Presumably there is a record which includes a patronym of Hermansz
Gerrit Stryker was born circa 1584 at Ruinen, Drenthe, Netherlands. The circa means that no birth record has ever been found, I am inclined to believe this date is a guess based on his marriage date.
He married Altje Lucasdochter circa 1614 at Ruinen, Drenthe, Netherlands. The circa again means that no record has been found, I'd suggest this date is a guess based on the couple being married the year before their first child is born.
Gerrit Stryker died in 1650 at Ruinen, Drenthe, Netherlands. This is the only fixed date in the profile. It could mean that a death/burial record exists, however, no records available for Ruinen in the online archive of Drenthe this old.
Children of Gerrit Stryker and Altje Lucasdochter: The Dutch naming convention means there are at least two older sons missing from this list.
Jan Strijcker+ b. 1617, d. 3-Mar-1697
Jacobus Gerritsen Stryker+ b. 1619, d. Oct-1687
Agnietje Gerritsen Stryker b. 1619, d. 8-Jan-1659
http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~brouwergenealogydata/genealogy/p617.... gives Jan Strijcker a DOB of 1615, hence the (gu)estimate of 1614 for the marriage of his parents.
Another small thing i noticed is that the female profiles all have married names, Dutch women of this era did not change their names at marriage so these profiles are created most likely by Americans.
