What is the evidence that Joseph/Josiah Washington Holt (my great x 3) is the son of Henry Ligon Holt? Because of the gateway ancestry on the Ligon line, I'd be pleased if it were so, but is this mere conjecture?

I added source evidence to the profiles for Josiah & Henry Ligon Holt who is his currently attached father. I don’t see anything one way or another. Would you like a parent disconnect? If evidence is found, they can always be reconnected.

Unless there's something more solid to hang the connection on, yes, I think the two profiles should be disconnected. As I say, I would be happy for it to be legit, and it looks possible, but we need something to confirm.

For that matter, I'm not confident the ancestry ascribed to Henry Ligon Holt is based on unambiguous sources. It looks to me like naming patterns, geography, and census records invite the conjecture that he is a Ligon descendant, but that's not what I would call proof positive, and he could easily have been named that simply out of admiration for someone in the Ligon family. Here as with the connection to Josiah, I would be most pleased were that proof to materialize, but I'm skeptical.
