Advocate - Saturday 11/7/1936 Page 2

Late Mr. Benjamin Dunham.
The remains of the late Mr. Benja-min Dunham were interred in the Deloraine general cemetery yesterday afternoon. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Dunham, of Deloraine, and was born at Liffey. He married a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. H. Youd, and resided all his life in the Quamby Brook district. He was of a quiet, retiring nature, and was highly respected. He was a member of a volunteer party who located a track up and over the Western Tiers to the Great Lake. The first three white men to-reach the lake from Deloraine were a brother of deceased (Mr. Chas. Dunham) and Mr. Jas Scott, and the late Mr. D. D. Griffin. Parts of the old track taken by these pioneers may still be seen as one travels to the lake. Deceased leaves a widow and one son, Mr. Keith Dunham (Hobart). Chief mourners were Messrs. K. Dunham (son), Chas. Dunham, of Deloraine (brother), Ralph, Sam, and Laurie Dunham (nephews). The carriers were three nephews and Mr. C. Bussey. The burial service was read by Rev. C. C. Robertson.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. B. J, Cameron.

Advocate - Tue 7/4/1942
DEATHS
DUNHAM-On April 6, 1942 (suddenly), at the residence of her daughter, Bathurst street, Launceston, Charlotte, widow of the late Benjamin Dunham, of Deloraine, in her 74th year.

There are 2 Charlotte's

1 the aunt (daughter of John YOUD and Mary ATWELL) born 1862
2 the niece (daughter of Henry YOUD and Hannah Frances DEATH) born 1868

The 1885 marriage to William DUNHAM is to Charlotte aged 17 - this would be the niece

Benjamin DUNHAM's death record says he married the daughter H YOUD - this would be the niece

The 1942 death of Charlotte DUNHAM - widow of Benjamin DUNHAM was 74 - this would be the niece

Francis born in 1884 - father unknown - there is currently no way to determine if this is the niece or the aunt. The aunt was 22, the niece was 16. More research is required to determine the mother.

Herbert born in 1895 - father unknown - there is currently no way to determine if this is the niece or the aunt - but given that the niece was still married to William until 1897 - this is most probably the aunt.

Edme born in 1892 - father Charles DUNHAM - the niece was still married to William until 1897 - this is most probably the aunt.

Here is the most likely scenario (based on sources)

The aunt
Charlotte Alice Eliza Dunham

married c1884 {unknown father of Francis Frank Griffiths YOUD}

married c1891 Charles Cox Dunham

married c1895 {unknown father of Herbert John YOUD}

The niece
Charlotte Alice Eliza Dunham

married 1) William Applebey Dunham and had children

first husband died in 1897 and she married his brother Benjamin Dunham and had the following children

If anyone can add additional sources to confirm the aunts relationships/children that would be very welcome.
