The wife of Stephen being Elizabeth Tarlton is unlikely, the Genealogy Forum states she was the daughter of already dead parents Stephen Tarleton who died abt 1688 & Susannah Bates who died 1675. Others have claimed she was the daughter of Roger Tarleton of Isle of Wright VA (80 miles from Henrico), in Roger's will of 12 Dec 1726 he names his daughters all by their married name except for a daughter Elizabeth https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9P6-978S Elizabeth would have been married about seven years

Elizabeth Childress, named in the 14 Jan 1718 Will of Abraham Childress Item: ''I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Hughes, wife of Stephen Hughes, 1 shilling.''
