He was my great great grandfather on my mother's side. My grandmother said he was he dean of the Vilna Yeshiva. That would have been probably toward the end of the 19th, beginning of the 20th century. One of his sons, Shimon Hurwitz, became a prominent Kabbalist, but I can find out no information at all about my great grandfather. Someone once referred me to a database that was restricted to the public, so that was no help at all.
I agree with what Laurel said. I am impressed by the very extensive Kamenetsky tree you have built on Geni. Unfortunately it does not seem as if our trees join on the Kamenetsky side. Instead, I see a link between us via the wife of R Shimon Hurwitz, Ruchel (Movshovich) Hurwitz, her sister Chana Goldberg, Diskin, Kosowsky, etc.. I am interested in the information you found about Meir Kamenetsky. Can you send me the portion of the book that mentions him? You can reach me at mitchchazan@gmail.com Thank you.
