My mother (Jeanette Nichols Crabb) told me that a couple of her uncles were photographers. Here, on the back of a family portrait of my mother's immediate family (parents & siblings c. 1917) is stamped "Phelps Studio 1148 Chapel St. New Haven, CONN" and in my mother's handwriting is Owned by: @John Carnell Crabb + @Stephen Gardner Crabb [@ symbols added now].
