Apparently on 16 May 1901,(the date of the news article) HN Pine was charged with failing to maintain his wife, Dinah. According to the article in Papers Past HN Pine had been missing for some time and had left Wellington bound for Sydney, Australia. So a warrant was issued by the court committing him to a prison sentence for 3 months.
I'm now wondering from whence came the burial place mentioned in this record Did he return to Dunedin to serve his jail sentence? Regards, Marlene McDonald
