Note that there is a difference between Piteå country parish and Piteå town parish. The country parish is the oldest one. The town parish was created when the town of Piteå was established, but for an overlapping time the two parishes had one and the same church records for births, marriages and deaths, only the records of payments to the church were divided into two. The two parishes had for a long time two different records. It was not until modern time that the two parishes were merged into one again. Therefore are most people buried at Öjeby cementery, not Piteå cementary which is the same as the town cementery.
