Hi
There have been a lot of bad merges (merging men with women, merging people born many many years apart) as well as bad edits on profiles (changing names completely)

I will try to reverse them and revert them to what they were originally

Can everyone who manages these profiles please

  • do NOT edit them or merge them until it is cleaned up.
  • post here if there are any nearby profiles that have not been fixed.

Leanne

I have reversed some of the bad merges and tried to ensure that they are in the original places.

Unfortunately the reverse merge has not reverted all the data and connections.

Could everyone please check the profiles and let me know what else needs to be fixed

It seems Klaartje Moffie does not exists anymore

There were at least 2500 bad merges - Geni support were trying to reverse them all.

These sound very much like the same bug I had reported in https://www.geni.com/discussions/223064 and to Customer Service.

Customer Service told me early Feb. 2021
"Thank you for the examples, they have been sent to our engineers. The profiles affected appear to be older profiles created in 2012, 2014, etc., but our engineers are trying to determine which profiles are affected. We currently have a manual fix for these to reset the creation revision, so all the examples provided have been fixed. "

And on Feb 25 2021 Customer Service told me "The fix we have to reset the creation revision has been included in the code for merging and undo merging. So going forward merges of an old profile that was showing the incorrect name in the revisions will show properly in the merge revision page and if a merge is undone, the correct name will show on both profiles such as David Nail and David Nail instead of Rachel Nail and David Nail." -- but this fix was for merges done after the end of Feb.

No - this had nothing to do with a bug.

This was a user deliberately doing 2500+ bad merges over a 6 week period. Once identified it was passed onto to Geni to investigate and fix.

Wow!
