I am looking for information on the role William Terrell Lewis and his three sons, Micajah Lewis, Andrew Lewis and Joel Lewis and other friends played in the Battle of Kings Mountain, October 7, 1780.

Have you found pension records, often give a few details as does Fold3. Many books about Kings Mtn, a favorite Hero’s of KM but I don’t recall their names in it. Tory or Loyalist? Pls tell us more

I have books, but they mention William Terrell Lewis while not specifying his actual actions. I am interested in whether he did lead his sons into battle together, or whether each one participated individually.

Wm. T. Lewis, Sr. , was one among the first men who volunteered their services in Albemarle county, Va., to resist the high‐handed measures of Lord Dunmore' s "wicked administration." He was a first lieutenant of the first company of "Independents" raised in the county of Albemarle in view of the encroachment of the Crown on the liberties of the people of the Colonies.

Before the Revolutionary war, he emigrated from Albemarle county, Va. to Surry county, N. C. Soon after the commencement of the Revolutionary war, William T. Lewis, Sr. , applied to Governor Caswell, of North Carolina, for military commissions for all his sons then old enough to bear arms.

In 1781, 1783, 1785, 1786, and 1788, he represented Surry county as a member of the General Assembly. In 1793 he emigrated to Nashville, Tenn., where he died about the year 1802.

This is all I can find.

I was wondering if he led his sons into the Battle of Kings Mountain or if he did more.
